well your pallet's all grey,

and yr water's running red

as yr rifle lays gently by the side of my bed.

and the moon is eclipsed

by a sun burning fair

as my fingers untangle all the knots in yr hair.

and how many lives must we live

to live out a dream

how many times must i give

to prove, it's obscene

now the room is on fire

with a tender loving kiss

and you want me to hold you but i have to take a piss

and all of yr dreams

as you lay on the bed

the sugar bowl is lumpy and so is yr head

and how many men must i kill

to prove to them yr with me?

do i keep my sword by my side

or bury it where you sleep

now she listens as my fingers untangle her hair

to the cars in the street, to the beggar downstairs

and symmetrically flowing

our conscience is growing

to a time when i should have been better and could

as we kneel in the waters praying for an answer

she leaps from my side and pretends she's a dancer

and how many men must i kill

to prove to all of them yr with me

do i keep my sword safe by my side?

or lay it down there at yr feet.
